Worse yet? The bath drain and the toilet are bunched up as much in that corner as they could possibly be, and it’s difficult to clean, and prone to mold!
Remedies need to be inexpensive and non-destructive.
Remedies already in use:
- Toilet lid stays down.
- Trying to clean more often.
- About to repaint that wall– considering a rosy colour.
Did I mention that the only reasonable place for the litterbox is the bathroom as well?
I don’t think that your kind of fengshui is the chinese fengshui. i think that is the bogus kind, mostly from english published fengshui books. just think about it, if all houses have a toilet, then it will fall into a certain section of the ba gua, and therefore, there will be no perfect place for a toilet in that system. and a perfect house would be one without a toilet!
authentic fengshui is not as simple as that. it has nothing to do with vibes, energy flow nor colors.
energy inside the house can only be calculated using the fengshui concepts. and it cannot be felt and it cannot be sensed.
i know that most people, esp western people, love a quick fix. but fengshui is difficult to understand and assimilate. but it is not a reason to make up a whole new system that does not work.
the purpose of fengshui is to improve life by attracting good health or attracting money into the lives of the occupants of the house. it has nothing to do with interior design of the house. a well designed house can be built based on fengshui, but it does not contain a single chinese looking thing or furniture.
there is even a formula in fengshui, when the toilet is placed at a correct location, it can attract money into your life, whenever you use the flush.
a toilet located at the west can have an influence on daughter/s living in the house. and when the toilet is decorated with flowers or plants, the daughter can be rebelious and go with guys with a bad reputation. thus, it is always adviseable to keep toilet clean and simple.
a leaky toilet can mean that you have unecessary and unexpected expenses; so better to get it fixed.
try this simple fengshui thing to stimulate your personal life: put 4 fresh/ living (not plastic) green plants at the southeast most part of your house. when a plant turn yellow, you need to replace it right away.
you cannot do this if the southeast most is a toilet or a bedroom. and you can only do this until october-november of 2007, as it will be a different location in 2008.
this method can attract more people into your (and occupants of the house) life – these can be good people and they can also be bad people. it does not choose. so when things get out of hand, just remove these plants.
regarding the people you are attracting, these can mean clients, lover, friends, etc.
to know the southeast most part of your house. locate the center point of the house – if the lot where the house is is a rectangle, the point where 2 diagonal lines intersect is the center. go to this place literally, and use a compass to locate the southeast most – near the edge of your house, away from the center.

I live at home, so can only really redecorate my own bedroom. I was looking on Yahoo! about Feng Shui and thought it’d be cool to bring some luck and love into my life by having a fish bowl in my room. Some people say 6 gold, 1 black fish, some say 7 gold and 1 black goldfish. Does anyone know for sure?
I was also reading some other answers/tips about Feng Shui and a person said not to put water features in your bedroom like an aquarium.
That puts a damp on my idea of putting a fish tank in my room.
Is it true that gold fish need 5-10 gallons of water each? That is an awful lot! Maybe 2 gold and 1 black goldfish is okay?
Love your opinions and expertise!
first bedroom should not have any water feature like an aquarium. because water is such a powerful element that it can turn a bedroom into more yang. thus, you will have some problems sleeping and living in that bedroom. likewise, a bedroom should not have any plants either.
water features are only used in fengshui basically not to decorate but more to activate an area. but in fengshui, it is also important to do it subtly – thus, others wouldn’t suspect that you’re using fengshui.
I live in a house that has all in all three rooms: the living room (which is also the dining room and the kitchen), the bathroom and the bedroom. i want to decorate it using feng shui techniques, but i am unsure what is better. should i decorate each room seperately with its own feng shui or the whole house together.
example: should i decorate my living room as the north east part of the ba gua (feng shui compass) or decorate the north east part of each room on its own?
i am afraid that by decorating each room with its own feng shui my small home will look clutterred. i dont have much space to fit many things coz each room is 4m by 4m.
Somebody please help me!! thank you very much!
Okay, first things first.
It sounds to me as if you think having good Feng Shui means having specific stuff in each area of the bagua – and while that’s a good rule of thumb, it’s really more of a generalization and better for working with "cures" than anything else.
Good feng shui means you have a space that is comfortable and meets your needs.
Your ‘great room’ – the combination living/dining/kitchen – should be linked by color. You can consider dividing the space visually by changing the intensity of the color from one area to the next and by the arrangement of furnishings. Try to invest in furniture that will not overwhelm your space, but will still allow you room to stretch out and have company (and make them comfortable as well).
Your bedroom is probably the most important part of your home at this time, so make it the best place possible for you. Avoid having a mirror that faces the bed, or having a lot of electronic stuff in the bedroom (TV, computer, etc). If you must use underneath the bed for storage space, then make sure you only store "quiet" things there, like out of season clothes or additional bedding. Keep the bedroom as clutter free as possible. If there is one room where I would "double feng shui", this would be it. Apply the bagua to your entire home, and then to your bedroom – what overlaps? Is this an area you want to strengthen or downplay? Use Feng Shui cures or enhancements accordingly.
As for your bath, the basic rules are pretty much the same: keep it comfortable, clean and clutter-free (although a touch of candles or a set of pretty bottles with lotions, soaps, cotton balls, etc can be nice). If your bath falls into your Wealth area, take particular care to keep the plumbing in good working order and the toilet lid down when not in use.
I get the impression you are particularly interested in enhancing the Relationships area(s) of your home. In that case, I would put the bagua over my home and determine the location of the Relationships area and add enhancements there, and then do likewise for each room.
Send me an email if you want more specific assistance! I’ve been doing this for about 15 years now!!
I know L shape desk are not a good idea for feng shui, but I need to know what I can do to cure it and getting rid of it is not a solution. Please only answer question if you know a great deal about Feng Shui.
Thank you in advance.
L shaped desk – neither good nor bad in fengshui
you are confusing it with an L shaped room or an L shaped building, now that’s a problem. with an L shaped room, divide with a divider to have 2 rectangular rooms. with an L shaped building, move? or renovate.
besides fengshui is not totally about shapes of these things. it is more about where you put your home office. if you use fengshui methods like flying stars and 8 mansions to locate your desk in a location where there is good energy, then no matter what shape of desk you put in it, you are still going to have a good business in that desk. because of the good energy will still benefit you. the good energy that i am talking about is something that no person can sense or feel, it is not a vibe or a feeling when you enter a room. its location can only be calculated using the fengshui methods. and each combination of energy/s is formed when 3 elements combine based from the where the front main door of the house is facing/ where the original chi/ energy comes in.
in this analysis of energy, the 5 elements (fire, water, earth, wood and metal) are represent my numbers 1 to 9, each number represents a specific and unique form of energy, meaning the 5 elements can be subdivided into 9 different energies. when these combine, they form new energy that have unique characteristics. because of this characteristic, the new energy formed can either be good or bad for you. for exaample, an area has 8,8,1 this energy mean that the area is good for money making, but can be deadly for the elderly and the very young children, so an office or a kitchen would be okay for this area. having a kitchen in this area can mean that you wont get hungry. again the numbers are not designated because we want them there, but there is a formula using flying stars method.
this means that we need to know the energy distribution of the house first, before we can arrange which area in the house we can use as a bedroom, office, kitchen, etc.
if, on the other hand, we already have a house built, then we use the same technique to tilt the main front door to shift the energy distribution in the house. in most cases, there will be compromise in here, but there will be little renovations than the other way around.
