Feng Shui

Feng Shui (pronounced “Fung Shway“) is the ancient Chinese art of placement.  Feng Shui literally translates to mean Wind Water and is represented by the symbols depicted here to the side.  Feng Shui can be used to improve your life by implementing Feng Shui principles which improve the flow of Qi (pronounced “Chi”) or life energy that is present in all things.  It is believed that this energy can become stagnant and that simple changes in our environment can unblock the flow of energy and improve our circumstances.

Feng Shui decorating can be used to bring more love, health or money into our lives.  Many of the Feng Shui cures are practical ideas about where objects can be placed in and around our homes to make them look more esthetically pleasing, safe and functional.

Anyone can use good Feng Shui to make the positive changes they want in their lives.  One of the primary tools of Feng Shui is the Bagua (pronounced “Bah Gwa”).  The Bagua is an eight sided diagram that includes eight elements that correspond to eight important areas of our lives.

Bagua

When objects around us are arranged in a way that allows Qi to flow properly then we will experience more success and fulfillment in all areas of our lives.

Feng Shui can be used in the home and workplace.  Many modern buildings are designed and decorated using Feng Shui principles.  There are many fun and easy ways to use Feng Shui to make our living, working and playing areas more enjoyable.  You’ll find many good Feng Shui ideas here and please feel free to comment on ones you have tried and like.

I’m looking for a general book to outline the basics of this ancient practice. I want to do it to my bedroom and office. I heard if you do this properly you will make more money too. Is this true? Please just give me the name and author (if possible) of a book you read and liked and why you liked it. Thanks!

I am a certified Feng Shui Practitioner black hat sec.
When I went for training one of the recommended books for us as reference believe it or not was Feng Shui for Dummies.
Found this rather interesting but in reading it gives very black and white explanations to questions you have.
There is also a book by Carol Bridges A Soul In Place, reclaiming home as a sacred space you might find interesting. Carol Bridges runs seminars and training sessions in Nashville IN A wonderful and insightful experience.

My desk faces the door so that I can view everyone coming in and my back to the wall. Should my mirror go there or somewhere else?

Mirrors serve several purposes in Feng Shui. First mirrors reflect and deflect chi. Secondly, mirrors are used to draw in the energy of an object outside of the room.

It is not advised to have a mirror in your office at all. If you place the mirror behind your desk, which faces the door, you’ll be sending all the good chi out of your office. In fact, you’ll prevent chi from coming into the office in the first place. If you have a window in your office, you can not place it opposite the window, because it will send the chi out the window.

Why do you need a mirror in your office in the first place? If you really need a mirror, then place it on the wall that will have another solid wall opposite it. This way, you are not sending any chi out. However, with the presence of a mirror the chi will be constantly moving, which means that you will lack focus while at work. Therefore, it is best not to have one at all, because mirrors cause more harm then do good.

Does anyone know of a good website where you can get free advice and see a chart for the home? Specifically a bedroom.

i doubt if you can find a good one that offers free advice. you cannot just apply fengshui to your bedroom and not to the whole house. anyway, i am just saying that it does not have any significant effect on your life – doing fengshui just to your bedroom. and all effects are just in your mind.

I know rose quartz is good for that area, but I was wondering what other crystals are good there.

Also if anyone knows of any good websites with good information about what crystals work well in the different areas, I would appreciate the referal

In feng shui, the south west represents marriage and partnerships.

To activate this area of your life, place two rose quartz crystals (to represent two people, a couple) in the south west corner of your bedroom. Place two lovely candles with your crystals, and anything else which reminds you of a loving relationship, such as a postcard of a couple dancing, or a picture of a couple embracing, or two people on a picnic. Every time you see your crystals/candle display, state this affirmation ‘I have a wonderful loving relationship’ or something along those lines. Ensure you have two bed side tables, two bed side lamps. Ensure the rest of your bedroom, and home, does not have photos or pictures of single people.

Any crystal can be programmed, so you don’t have to buy rose quartz. Find something you like that has a soft and gentle energy. Program the crystal to assist you in finding the ideal partner. Write down the characteristics in the partner you would like, and place the note under the crystals.

I hope this is helpful! In case you have any further questions I have created a Feng Shui Tips group on Yahoo to answer feng shui questions at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/fengshuitipsgroup/

I have found an old house built on a triangular plot of land, around 465 sq mt big. I plan to break the old house andbuild a new one there. The location of the plot is nice, corner plot open on two sides but I am not sure whether in Fengshui it is considered good to build a house on triangular plot.

a triangular plot is not recommendable because a triangle denotes fire, which in fengshui means many bad things like inflamation of, actual fire, sickness related to blood and heart, etc. but, if it is big enough, you can have a retangular house with 3 triangular garden around the house… making the house better as oppose to having a triangular house. but this still is not important as far as fengshui is concerned. but it just helps a bit – as form is also an important aspect of fengshui.

If it is bad luck could anyone tell me what I can do to use it in a good way. I am renting so I can t remove it.

Hi, a good question!

The energies that circulate within the house, come from 8 directions externally and for them to interact, would need a fairly open centre inside the house.

It is not generally positive to have any enclosed room in the centre for this reason. I would suggest in your situation to keep the room open as much as you can, (considering the circumstances) and evaluate how your life has been before and since you moved in and with this change.

Also find out the history of the house and how long other tenants have been there and why they moved out, it may give some interesting information on how the feng shui of that house has been for them. Do this also when looking for a new place to rent.

I hope this helps.
Wishing you good health, abundant wealth and lasting happiness,
Priscilla

Just moved into a new place and would love some good karma to come along with it. Thanks!

Well, if I had just moved, I would start by giving the place a really good clean (you’ve probably done that!) and then I would smudge each room, preferably with frankincense incense which is amazing for clearing away negative energies and vibrations.

Lots of fresh, green, healthy plants with rounded leaves, no clutter (as much as humanly possible!), a little fountain or aquarium in your front hall ~or~ in the top left corner as you come in, and you have some great basics set up. For lots more simple tips and advice, take a look at this webpage on Feng Shui and good luck in your new home!

Lately i’ve discovered about Master So frm Hong Kong about face Feng Shui. Is there anyway i can send my details and picture to him for his consultation? I browse to his website before but unfortunately i can’t read chinese although i’m a chinese. Sigh… Please someone help me !

i think it is better to have a business that you want doing, not because someone advised it.

based on fengshui, in theory, you can do whatever business that you like, and apply fengshui to make it easy. it is not really that it will be luckier or easier if do a particular business.

don’t mind bazi/ destiny calculation. it will just make everything complicated. just do whatever business you like, and later consult a practitioner to fix the fengshui where you will do business.

but if you insist, i think raymond lo is very good in destiny calculation. he also teaches fengshui. his website: http://www.raymond-lo.com/ver2/index.asp

I would like to know and learn how to arrange and place things in my house according to Feng Shui

there is no website that offers free fengshui information that is considered to be useful. all that is available is free because it is worthless in the first place, as far as fengshui is concerned.

fengshui is not about arranging the things inside the house, but it is about using the fengshui concept to know what areas inside your house has good energy and what areas has bad energy.

then you locate the different rooms to these areas. kitchen, toilets and hallways/ storage goes to the bad areas, while living room, bedroom and main door goes to the good areas.

when we use the good areas, they are activated and the good energy happens – making our lives more healthier or wealthier, depending on what kind of good energy is in the area.

when the bad areas are used (either by having movements or living in them), the bad energy happens. this is also depending on the energy.

the energy inside your house can only be calculated using the fengshui concepts. thus, there is no free website to generalize this.

and this is only 1 concept to start with.

sometimes, when a fengshui concept cannot be used like if you are an east person, but your house is facing west, then you try to use other fengshui concepts. there are many fengshui concepts.

all of these concepts are only taught in fengshui seminars held by masters or practitioners.
