Fung Shway – Feng Shui

I just saw a show on tv that had the fireplace problem you described. The ”accepted” cure was to put a crystal on a table right inside the front door which is supposed to draw your attention away from the fireplace. I think their was also a mirror over the table.References : tv

I wouldn’t worry about it. If feng shui is something that helps you live more comfortably, it’s fine. It’s when you find issues that will cost you time, money, and frustration that I criticize it as being pseudoscience. Repeated testing has shown that no two "experts" give the exact same advice in feng shui. This inconsistency shows that it’s not a science and rather a series of preferences.
Again, if feng shui works for you, then by all means, do what makes you feel good. Just don’t let it give you any headaches in terms of a comfortable living!

You need a water element placed in between the doors and the fireplace to extinguish the effects of the fire. A simple fountain, doesn’t have to be big can do this. A small desktop one will suffice. As far as your bedroom, more important than your feet pointing toward the door is what direction your headboard is. Your head should ideally be pointing North, unless that wall has a bathroom on the other side and the toilet is on that wall. If this is the case, place your headboard so your head is facing West. Never have your head facing south. Change rooms if you have to. I wouldn’t recommend east either. fireplace in front of a double main door – i think this is only bad if your fireplace in a location with bad chi (which can be calculated using the facing of your main door). because fire can activate areas with either good chi or bad chi. i would not worry so much that it is directly towards the door.

double door – actually, i would suggest a double door with unequal sized doors, then use the smaller door in your everyday use, or use the door which forms a diagonal to the farthest opposit corner of the room (from the door) – but better if this door is the smaller door.

bed in front of the door – this is a no no. but if your bed is big and just a small portion is protruding, i wouldn’t worry about it. actually this is simple fengshui, and not that powerful to have a significant effect on your life.
