I have a 1 bed room 1 bath apartment on the second floor of my complex. My bed room has white walls but I’ve decorated the walls with a light yellow world map (because i like to travel), a Van Gogh "starry night" ( i love stars and the painting is soothing), a poster of "kissing the war goodbye" and some quotes on the wall. I have a midnight blue duvet for my goosedown and metallic yellow satin pillowcases 4 my pillows. Since I’ve feng shui-ed my apt, i have NOT been able to sleep like i used to. Before, as soon as my head hit the pillow, I’d pass out. Now, its a complete struggle. I dont know where my bed is facing but it faces the wall with the map and van gogh painting so i see these posters when i wake up. I USED to have just a white goose down and white pillows. Are the colors messing me up? What am i doing wrong?

Yes, bright colors are Yang energy and will definitely disrupt sleep. No Orange colors, Reds, Yellows, etc. In addition, books are Yang energy and will give you insomnia. I believe the map is Yang as well. You want to balance the Yang with the Yin, too much Yin is bad as well.

Van Gogh is one of my favorite artists, but his stuff is too phrenetic for a bedroom.

i think that theres too much going on in your small apartment and bedroom; the idea is to stick to one theme and then decorate; if you really want to feng shui you need to include something peaceful like a fountain or anything that will make you relaxed; after all it is the bedroom! stick to 2 colors; at the most three but have only 1 primary color and the others will be accent colors(pillows, pictures…) trust me; less is really more!References :

fengshui is not a cure-all. fengshui can only do one of these 2 things (that is 1 per application, based on 1 fengshui concept; to achieve both, an application/ solution must be supported by 2 or more concepts – also depends on what the concept is about):
1). increase wealth
2). improve health

it cannot make you sleep better. when fengshui improve your health, it means that you are not sickly, illness heal fast, and in most cases, the occupants look younger than their actual age. but still it does not make you sleep well.References :

Yes! Especially if you’re already thinking about it. Something isn’t right in your bedroom and your mind is aware of it causing you to not be able to sleep.

Here’s some good info. for setting up bedrooms properly.

Try some of the things mentioned. You’d be surprised how well it works and also how good your decorating will look and how much better you’ll be sleeping :) References : http://www.myfengshuilife.com
