The energies that circulate within the house, come from 8 directions externally and for them to interact, would need a fairly open centre inside the house. It is not generally positive to have any enclosed room in the centre for this reason. I would suggest in your situation to keep the room open as much as you can, (considering the circumstances) and evaluate how your life has been before and since you moved in and with this change. Also find out the history of the house and how long other tenants have been there and why they moved out, it may give some interesting information on how the feng shui of that house has been for them.
