I don’t know if it is good feng shui to do it but I like the idea. We are going to be redoing ours and that is what we are going to do. It is becoming quite popular. I have not checked into all the regulations on what is required (safe) but like I said it is becoming popular.References :

I dont know anything about feng shui, but i do have a flatscreen tv above my fireplace. I installed a large 20"x 32" picture over the front of the tv. it has a 6" deep frame that allows it to completely cover the tv which projects out 5 " from the wall. the picture is hinged at the top and has a hydrostatic arm to hold it up when opened (like the arm that holds open the hatch door of a mini-van). when the tv is off and the picture is down, no-one can tell there is anything behind it. I dont know why you couldnt mount a mirror over the tv following the same guideline.References :

fengshui is about formulas and concepts, that when applied to a particular area, you need to calculate for which precise degree your main door or desk or sofa or water feature or bed (etc) faces. there are some insignificant concepts relating to arrangements, but this is unimportant. so it is okay to put the tv on top of the fireplace, as long as the tv does not catch fire – for practical reasons, not fengshui.

the concepts in fengshui are also not easy to understand. and most books that are published are either fakes, talk about blackhat fengshui, which is like what the western world made out of fengshui because they couldn’t understand the real thing, or only talk about less than 1% of the whole concept. most website sell something that claims to have some fengshui power like green frogs statues or crystals.

4 years ago, i also have the same notion that when i buy more than 10 different books on fengshui, somehow i will get the gist of it. but i was wrong. the best way to learn is still attending seminars that a fengshui master offers, or hire your own fengshui auditor/ master.

going back to your renovation. if you like fengshui that much, then it is best to build/ renovate a house according to fengshui than building/ renovating a house according to your preferences, then renovating later on for remedies – the latter is what gives fengshui a bad name!References :
